I am delighted to advise that at the Planning Committee meeting this afternoon, Redrow’s application to build 45 houses on ‘Land at Overlea Drive’ was REFUSED overwhelmingly, with only one Committee Member in favour of the development.
Both Len Rowlands of 63 Overlea Drive and Community Councillor Cheryl Carver spoke for their allowed three minutes against the application, as did I for my allowed five minutes at the local Councillor.
The grounds for refusal were decided by the Committee as:- Affordable Housing Provision, Overbearing Development and Lack of On-Site Play Areas.
I do not know at this stage what Redrow’s next move might be. Possibly either to Appeal the Decision, or alternatively to submit another Application to accommodate the Committee’s grounds for refusal on this occasion. Time will tell.
